The stigma surrounding ADHD has resulted in a systematic neglect of mental health services for those with this condition and services are further threatened at a time of financial restraint in public services. We believe this continuing stigma influences commissioning choices that are made by commissioners, who typically have no clinical experience or knowledge of ADHD and the mental health needs of ADHD patients.
